In Kansas City, youth delegates at Global Action: Taking Community Service Abroad will:
- Meet young people from around the world, including the United States, Iraq and Morocco
- Learn how youth can improve their own towns & communities - and their sister city - through the theme of "Global Action: Taking Community Service Abroad"
- Work with other youth delegates on a community service project
- Share their community's culture with fellow youth delegates
- Build leadership skills for an increasingly connected world
- Learn how to make the Sister Cities International mission of Peace through People a reality, one friendship at a time
- Explore Kansas City's rich culture. Possible destinations include:
- Kansas City's famous jazz clubs
- 18th & Vine Jazz Museum
- Kansas City Royals baseball game
- City Market on the Missouri River
- Free time to explore Kansas City neighborhoods rich with avant-garde artists and musicians
- Participants must be between 15-20 years of age (The conference is designed for rising high school sophomores to recently-graduated seniors and their international equivalents)
- Participants do not need chaperones to attend
- Estimated Registration Fee is $400. Includes:
- Lodging in Rockhurst University dorms
- Meals
- Daily program and activity materials
- Transportation and entry fees for off site activities
- The registration fee does not include: airfare, transportation to and from the airport, spending money
All registered participants must fill in and mail the Code of Conduct Form , the Emergency Medical Release Form , the Travel Itinerary Form, and the Special Neeeds Form within 30 days of registering for the Conference.
