Sister Cities International is a nonprofit, citizen diplomacy network that creates and strengthens partnerships between U.S. and international communities to increase global cooperation at the local level. Headquartered in Washington, DC, Sister Cities International promotes sustainable development, youth involvement, cultural understanding, and humanitarian assistance. The Sister Cities International network represents more than 2,500 communities in 134 countries around the world.
Sister Cities International is currently seeking an intern to work on the Islamic Partnership Initiative. The aim of this Initiative is to encourage positive engagement with the Muslim world through Sister Cities partnerships, educational outreach and joint programs. Duties and Responsibilities
- Research and develop resources for members related to the Initiative
- Research existing Sister Cities partnerships in Muslim majority countries and prepare program model reports
- Respond to member inquiries and updating contact and program information in online member database
- Provide logistical and programmatic support for upcoming Partnership & Peace Tours.
- Other administrative tasks, as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent written and communication skills
- Prior living, working or educational experience in the Middle East/ North Africa. Experience with Jordan and/or Palestinian territories strongly desired!
- Ability to conduct quality research and report effectively on findings
- Ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail
- Proficient at Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Fluency in a second language preferred
- Enrolled as a student in International Studies, Islamic Studies, Middle East Studies, Foreign Affairs, International Development or a related field.
- Spring committment with possibility to extend for summer internship.

Compensation
- Spring semester (part-time) - $250 stipend to be paid at end of internship.
