Duties & Responsibilities
The Muslim World Partnership Initiative Program Manager will report directly to the Deputy Executive Director and is responsible for the development and implementation of this program area. The incumbent will develop and implement programs that build and activate partnerships between U.S. cities and the Muslim world. Program projects include developing a conference for women against violence extremism, visioning and implementing a US-Muslim sister city conference in the Middle East, representing the organization at key events and gatherings focused on advancing this dialogue nationally and internationally. The Muslim World Partnership Initiative Program Manager develops tactical program plans, oversees special projects, grant-supported programs and executes day-to-day operations within the programs department which includes outreach to member. The incumbent will also work closely with the development department to identify and secure new funding for this program area.
The Program Manager will need to be able to work in a fast-paced environment and should be a self-starter. He or she must have excellent people and communication skills, the ability to multitask, high attention to detail, and bring the ability to work independently or in a team environment. He or she must have strong experience organizing and managing programs, planning workshops, exchanges, educational events, or volunteer organizations. The ideal candidate will also have a background in working with volunteers. Grant management and proposal development experience is a plus.
Requirements & Skills
- Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.
- Fluency in Arabic required. Conversational in other languages, a plus.
- Three-to-five years of relevant Muslim culture work experience. Preference given to individuals who have worked at an international and foreign affairs, international development or exchange organization.
- Knowledge of nonprofit programs for a membership-based or volunteer organization.
- Experience with program development and implementation.
- Outstanding writing, planning and communications skills are required.
- Ability to write and manage grant-supported programs.
- Self-starter with strong organization and project management skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office software, databases.
- Experience living abroad, an appreciation of other cultures.
